Design Diplomacy Brief:
MET x Lucie Kaas Karl Lagerfeld Kokeshi Doll Product Launch
In partnership with the Consulate General of Denmark in New York and Danish design brand Lucie Kaas, I led the MET x Karl Lagerfeld Kokeshi doll product campaign launch timed with the Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty exhibition and gala at The Metropolitan Museum of Art.
The exclusive reception in New York at the Danish Consulate penthouse residence, brought together press, industry stakeholders, and cultural influencers including Jermeyville, HYBEBEAST, The Business of Fashion (BoF), and Vogue. The activation extended into the city when we took Karl to the streets of New York in the form of a large-scale Kokeshi doll on invitation by Helene Christiansen to an after party that was attended by high profile celebrities, including Kylie Jenner.
The initiative highlighted Lucie Kaas’s heritage as a contemporary Danish design brand known for reinterpreting mid-century Scandinavian design through collectible Pop Culture art objects. The campaign aligned with the global attention surrounding the events, positioning the product within a high-impact cultural moment. The result was a successful expansion to new audiences in the U.S. market, strengthening brand awareness and reinforcing Denmark’s position within the international design and culture landscape.
