Well-Read Women

Fashion Illustration; I go bonkers over it. So when I heard that one of my favorite illustrators, Samantha Hahn was doing a book signing at Rizzoli Bookstore, I high tailed it over after work to meet her.

I had seen her work before at Fashion’s Night Out 2012 in the Brooklyn Library. One of my favorite illustrations of her is this lovely tea party in solitude.

When I saw she was releasing a new book  “Well-Read Women: Portraits of Fiction’s Most Beloved Heroines”, I knew it would be right up my ally. It’s got Auntie Mame, Anna Karenina and my all time favorite Dominique Francon from the “Fountainhead”!

Clearly, Samantha is a bookish girl which makes me adore her all the more. When we talked, she told me she would be collaborating with Eloise Corr Danch on a display at the New York Public Library consisting of work from Samantha’s book and Elise’s beautiful cut paper sculptures. Awesome, awesome, did you KNOW I have an obsession with paper engineering?! Well, I DO! Read and see all about their collaboration here.
