Do It Yourself-Garrott Tee Look #9
We’re a creative lot, we can’t just leave stuff the way we bought it. I blame the craft kits of our youth, namely the Bedazzler oh, and don’t forget Puff Paint! Ever the designer, Nickki always knows how to improve upon a great find. This week Wild as a Mink but Sweet as Soda Pop gives you look #9 DIY Garrott Tee.
Don’t worry, you don’t have to go to design school for this! It’s a no sew / no hot glue project for those adverse to such things. Here is what you’ll need:
a scissors, pen, clear grid ruler, french curve ruler and most importantly, a Large or XL Garrott “Without My Muse” Tee. A slightly larger size works best for this look but you can work it however you like.
(if you’re not in the U.S. you can order your tee here)
Step One: Measure each shoulder from sleeve seam to neck band seam (make sure they are equal as washing can cause irregularities). Here, Nickki measured each shoulder to be 4 3/4″ seam to seam.
Determine how much you want to remove from the neck, Nickki decided to remove 1 1/2″ from the neck (each side). So measure from your neck seam, the desired amount on each side, and mark with a pen.
Step Two: Place your clear ruler on the high shoulder straight across to determined your center front neck. Mark your center and measure down to wear you want your new neck drop to be. Be careful not to measure past the print design.
Step 3: Using your french curve, line up the ruler from your shoulder mark to the center neck mark. Draw the neck curve on both sides, check to make sure it’s symmetrical when you’re done.
Step 4: Grab your scissors and cut from shoulder to shoulder, just outside the line so it won’t show up on your finished shirt.
And you’re done! Try on the shirt, if you want to remove more, simply follow the same steps until you get the look you want. Now, have a look at how Nickki rocks it!
Stay Tuned! Nickki’s got a few more ways to add to this cut and style. Until then, get your Large or XL Garrott tee here and try your crafty hands at it! Get out the Bedazzler or glue and sequins, whatever your style is, send us pics and we’ll post your look!
